Welcome to our VAIO Computers mini website. Here we provide a short discussion about VAIO Computers, our own VAIO Computer Store, a chat room about VAIO Computers and other computer related topics, and the most current news about VAIO Computers.
To start, VAIO is an acronym for Video Audio Integrated Operation, and it is a sub-brand name for Sony’s computer products. The VAIO logo was originally created in order to represent the integration of analog and digital technology. If you look at the VAIO logo closely, you can see that the first part of the logo consists of VA and has the appearance of an analog wave, and the second part, the IO, stands for 1 and 0 of binary code. This is a rather innovative logo which was representative of the first VAIO line of computer products.
Sony has extended the use of the VAIO label because now it can be found on notebooks, subnotebooks, desktops, and a hard-disk-based audio player. Network media solutions by Sony will also carry the VAIO brand. If you see the VAIO Computer logo, you can be sure the product contains Sony Computer technology. Sony has developed some proprietary technology under the VAIO brand which includes the XBRITE LCD, a anti-reflective screen display technology. Sony claims that their screens which incorporate this technology have a display which is more clear.
The Sony VAIO series of notebooks are high quality machines with an innovative design. The draw back is the Sony VAIO notebook machines come preinstalled with a lot of bloatware, which should be uninstalled after you get your machine running, at least as much as possible. They also tend to be a little pricey, but again their high quality seems to be the most important aspect of these machines. If you buy a new Sony VAIO notebook, they come preinstalled with Windows Vista operating system. Try going to a retailer and find a new system with Windows XP and they are no where to be found. Sony VAIO Computer Notebooks with Windows XP can be found online. Considering that VAIO notebooks tend to be a little pricey, consider buying a refurbished machine, a discontinued model, or check for Sony VAIO notebooks on eBay. Discontinued models, along with new, can also be found at our VAIO Computer Store.
VAIO Computers - Vista or XP?
You need at least 1 Gig of RAM to run Vista because Vista is bloated. And even with 1 Gig it is not the speediest operating system. Evidently the software engineers at Microsoft had to much time on their hands which resulted in them sitting around figuring out what kind of bells and whistles they could incorporate into their new operating system. They threw everything in but the kitchen sink. Well, that is a story for another day. It is known that most computer people simply do not like Vista Operating System. In any case, we believe the optimal notebook would be a VAIO which has Windows XP. Simply buy a VAIO notebook and uninstall as much bloatware as possible, and install Windows XP on this machine. Or even better, find an older model VAIO which has Windows XP pre-installed.
The problem with Vista is that it requires more processing power and more memory just to run normally, and simply is an operating system with more files to run compared to Windows XP. If you can, upgrade or downgrade, depending on your perspective, to Windows XP. And having Widows XP on a Sony VAIO notebook is an ideal machine.
But you say, Windows XP is no longer available. Confused? Here’s the bottom line: Online retailers like Newegg.com, which made headlines discounting OEM copies of Windows Vista by as much as 50 percent as authorized distributors, say they can exercise the same loophole and continue selling Windows XP as standalone, OEM software after June 30, 2008. The date Microsoft officially stopped selling Windows XP. So for OEM copies of XP go to Newegg.com. Do a Windows XP search on their home page, and you will see Windows XP OEM.
So where can you get the best price for VAIO Computer notebooks and subnotebooks. We looked into this and the results of our work can be found in our VAIO Computer Store.
VAIO Computers - Conclusion
One of the best lines of laptop machines in our opinion is the Sony VAIO Laptops which have Windows XP preinstalled. A couple alternatives would be a VAIO which has no operating system and you install Windows XP, or you can downgrade from Vista to Windows XP (Home or Pro). The preferred operating system is Windows XP simply because it runs more efficiently, is faster, and has fewer hardware conflicts compared to Windows Vista. Remember to uninstall the extra bloatware which comes preinstalled in the Sony VAIO. While the Sony VAIO laptop tends to be a bit pricey, discontinued models and refurbished machines is a viable alternative. Browse the machines on our VAIO Computer Store and you may find the Sony VAIO which meets your needs.

First look: Apple's Magic Trackpad
Early Tuesday, Apple announced the Magic Trackpad, the company's new standalone, Bluetooth trackpad. Using the same glass surface as the trackpad on Apple's current laptop line, the Magic Trackpad supports the same Multi-Touch gestures, bringing Apple's Multi-Touch technology to any Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.4 or later. (Sorry, the Magic Trackpad doesn't work with the iPad.) After taking some photos of the Magic Trackpad, we've spent the day using it, and here's our first in-depth look.
